You have to install the screw in bulb, pop on the plastic covering and then go through some settings to configure it to your needs. The lamp is fairly sturdy and comes well packaged. It doesn't have the light intensity of a desktop lamp so I don't think it could replace that but I think it compliments it very nicely. For me it's much nicer to be slowly woken up by an artificial dawn than in pitch blackness by my radio and I've felt a lot more relaxed as a result when getting up. I've used a lamp for about 7 years and have found it definitely helps to boost me during the darkest months but I've still found getting up to get to my desk and lamp a real struggle, anything to ease that was very welcome so I sought this out and decided to give it a try. I've suffered from SAD for many years and generally battle depression at this time of year so have sought ways to help me for many years. The Lumie Bodyclock Starter 30 is a daylight simulator wake up alarm, designed to steadily bring the light in your bedroom up to daylight levels and help your body to wake up in a natural and gentle way (as opposed to being jolted awake by your alarm in total darkness). I wish it was a lot cheaper but there you go. I use my iPhone as a final call to get up.Īs such, the Lumie Starter 30 fits the bill, form me, perfectly. In the end, all I wanted was a sunrise alarm clock with sunset capability. I can't help feel that I've been robbed paying nearly £60 for a timer and a bulb. Me awake but it's an unessarily awkward way to achieve it. So in the end I can go to sleep without an alarm set and without an annoying, bright LED screen keeping To get aound this you can use a special feature by pressing 2 buttons which causesĪ double 'beep'. The LED screen can only be switched off if the alarm is set. If you wake up and need to see the time just touch any of the 3īuttons and the display illuminates. The LED screen can be switched off during the night. I really didn't have any problems setting it up. Only 3 buttons but simple to use (with one exception, see below). Core function works well - sunrise alarm and sunset to help you drift off. Small and not unnattractive (looks better than the photographs suggest). It has no radio at all, which for me is fine and the sunrise feature actually wakes me up properly which is really all I wanted. The Starter 30 still feels like it only cost a few pence to make but the build quality is still much better than the classic 150. I missed the simplicity of the Lumie so decided on the Lumie Starter 30. The LED lights just didn't seem to wake me up. Worse still was that for me, it failed to wake me up on sunrise. I bought a Pure Twilight which was faulty and had to be returned. When the Classic 150 died I decided to stay away from any more Lumies. The FM radio was rubbish which was ok as I never used it. The device felt very badly made and required sending away for repair on one occasion.
